From his 1992 debut, with the massive club hit "Go," to the groundbreaking success of the inventive Play (1999), to the critical acclaim of Hotel (2005), and most recent album Innocents (2013), Moby has become an iconic figure in the world of electronic pop music, as well as a household name. Moby's been retrofitting antiquated styles and archaic sounds to the electronic age since "Natural Blues" – one of many enduring hits off of the twelve-million-plus selling international smash album Play. Nominated for both a Grammy and Brit Award, Play stands as the landmark release of its genre and is home to further definitive Moby fare like "Honey," "Porcelain," and "South Side" feat. Gwen Stefani.
Republication of Moby's fifth studio album as a double LP set with 180g heavyweight vinyl. Originally released in 1999, it was awarded the most successful indie album of the year and in over 20 countries with platinum. With "Play" Moby changed his way of working one more time. He took samples of folk and gospel - many of which originate from the archives of Alan Lomax - and combines them with his electronic soundscapes. He cuts out the samples loops, which he repeated endlessly: Bessie Jones "Sometimes" is repeated in "Honey" about 20 times and it unfolds the hypnotic attraction that made this song a hit. In appearance they turned many Moby fans who had expected a techno album, from the album and it did not make much in the charts emerge. It took over ten months before the tide turned and the album still blossomed into a massive hit. With 9 (!) Single releases and countless licensing of TV shows, movies and commercials, the album developed to a runner and has sold more than 12 million units to date.
