The release in 1958 recorded by the Ahmad Jamal Trio during an engagement at the Pershing Hotel in Chicago, including the classic rendition of "Poinciana." His liberal use of silence influenced many jazz musicians, including Miles Davis. Almost overnight the trio was in national demand and the record was one of the years top selling albums.
